Candace Whittemore Lovely is one of the foremost living American female Contemporary Realists. Her formal background in training and technique come from the Boston School. Lovely was commissioned by First Lady Barbara Bush to paint her portrait at the White House. She was voted one of the most prominent alumni of the University of Vermont and was inducted in the Hall of Fame at the Forman School in Litchfield, CT. In 2004, Hilton Head Monthly voted her Runner Up in the “Favorite Local Visual Artist” category. In addition to a multitude of shows and exhibits, Candace has appeared in many magazines and books, reflecting her prolific work. Her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME, and the J. Fust Community Library of Boca Grande, FL. Ms. Lovely maintains an active studio on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
