SUMMARY:Artist Statement Workshop with Natalie Terenzini
DESCRIPTION:  \nAn artist statement provides valuable context for an artist’s body of work\, helping potential patrons and galleries connect with the artwork\, providing support for the awarding of grants and residencies\, and allowing for deeper engagement across the board. \nLike a frame\, the statement can complement an artist’s work or diminish its impact. So what should it include? \nJoin NYC-based painter and instructor Natalie Terenzini for an hour-long workshop exploring how to craft an artist statement that will show your work in its best light. \nNatalie Terenzini is a painter living and working in Brooklyn\, NY. She holds degrees from both Laguna College of Art and Design and The New York Academy of Art. Terenzini’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in NYC and internationally. Recent exhibitions include Plato\, NYC and PMAM\, London. \n  \nLocation: Zoom \nDate & Time: Tuesday\, September 15 @ 6 pm \nCost: Free \n  \nRSVP HERE \n

SUMMARY:Book Signing: "The Book of Tales" by Mari Saxon
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us to celebrate the release of The Book of Tales\, a monograph by Russian-born conceptual photographer Mari Saxon. The release will happen conjunction with her solo show Untold Fairytale\, on view at the Copley Society of Art from September 17 to October 17. \nThis celebratory evening will take place on September 26 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and will include a book signing\, live music from Katya Popova (“Upright Bass Improvisation”)\, and an artist talk with a Q&A. \nSaxon’s solo exhibition\, Untold Fairytale\, features a performative photography series that explores motherhood\, self-recreation\, and the psychological weight of exile. Uprooted and rebuilding her life\, Saxon transforms a small unheated attic into a private\, mythical sanctuary accessible only to her two daughters. Embedded in architectural practice and classical painting allusions\, her stagings draw on traditional European folklore archetypes\, weaving a complex psychological narrative of play\, absurdity\, and dark mystery. \nThe Book of Tales is an exquisite volume of visual folklore featuring 120 photographs from the project and text inserts with original fairy tales written by the artist’s daughter\, Alisa Sakson. \nTime and Date: September 26 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm \nCost: Free \n  \nRSVP HERE \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Fresh Paint Party
DESCRIPTION:  \nFresh Paint: Fresh Facades marks the 38th iteration of the Copley Society of Art’s long-standing annual fundraiser\, originally established in 1988. \nIn celebration of the renovation of the building’s facade earlier this spring\, the theme of this year’s party is Fresh Facades. \nThis year the event also takes on a fresh new format\, reimagining the traditional auction into a simpler exhibition experience for participating artists and art enthusiasts alike. This year’s fundraiser celebrates the forward momentum and evolution of our historic organization as we approach our 150th anniversary and begin an exciting new chapter. \n  \nHow does it work? \nArtists create original work in a shared 10×10 format\, each priced at $300\, making collecting accessible and exciting for both new and longtime supporters. More than an exhibition\, Fresh Paint is an opportunity to connect with artists\, discover new work\, and invest in a vibrant creative community. \nIn attending Fresh Paint Party\, you directly support Co|So’s continued growth and our ability to serve student\, emerging\, and established artists through exhibitions\, professional development\, mentorship\, and community-building programs. \n  \nWhat should I wear? \nCome in your “freshest” outfit\, whether that means crisp linens\, 90’s streetwear\, floral greenery\, or your brightest fit! Best dressed will win a prize. \n  \nHow much are tickets? \nStandard entry to the Fresh Paint Party: $150 \nCreatives and administrators working in the arts and culture sector: $55 \n  \nBuy your ticket here. \n
