Encaustic miniatures: What is encaustic? From the Greek language “Encaustico”… to burn in:

Encaustic combines beeswax mixed with pigment and resin melted and applied to a surface that is infused with heat.

Opening October 13 and continuing thru December 24, the Red Room gallery features miniature encaustic works created by Robin Samiljan. The images displayed feature scenes from Chicago where Robin now resides and pastoral scenes likely found in the New England region. There are forty two works in all.

Robin will be giving a talk about her process and inspiration in the Newbury Street gallery on Saturday from 1 – 3. The public is welcome…hope to see you there!
