The Copley Society gives its artist members the opportunity to apply for residency programs through the FAWC in P-town and the Charles Family Foundation and the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester, MA. This September, Nancy Colella was chosen to be the artist-in-residence in Cape Ann through the generosity of the Charles Family Foundation and the Cape Ann Museum.
Colella, a resident of the South Shore, embraced the artistic aesthetic on the North Shore, the abundance of painters and beautiful plein air locations in Rockport, Anisquam, Gloucester and Essex. The residency offered the opportunity to explore new painting techniques, as well as to meet the North Shore’s most recognized painters.
On Tuesday, October 4th, Colella concluded her month-long residency with an extemporaneous gallery talk at the Cape Ann Museum. She was able to joyously reflect upon the creative growth she experienced throughout the residency.
