What actually is impressionist art? What is it supposed to do? How can I create it and appreciate it?

Come to a live demonstration by Copley Artist Geoffrey Chalmers as he embarks on a two hour walk-through of some of the basic tenets, bringing a still object to life and showing how images on a two dimensional surface can become three dimensional through the diligent observation of subtle color relationships.

This will be a multi-part event with a presentation on the history of Impressionism followed by an oil painting demonstration, with light refreshments provided.
