Awards of the Members Show: Winter Colors

Thursday, February 24th

The Copley Society of Art is proud to present the Members Show: Winter Colors. An exhibition featuring our artists interpretations of the colors that winter can inspire and reflect the challenges of seeking out color at this particular time of year.

This exhibition begins on Thursday, February 24th at the Copley Society of Art located at 158 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116, and continues through Saturday, March 26th.

All prizes were awarded by the director of Vose Galleries, Carey L. Vose.

 

First Prize: Walk in the Arboretum II by Ginny Zanger

Second Prize: Spring Snow by Laurinda O’Connor

Third Prize: Falling Out of Grey I by Leslie Baker

 

First Prize: Ginny Zanger, CA, Walk in the Arboretum II, watercolor on Yupo paper, 28″ x 28″

Comments from exhibition juror, Carey L. Vose: “I found the use of the medium refreshing and unusual, and the intriguing composition wove together both realist and abstract elements in a very unique way.”

Second Prize: Laurinda O’Connor, CA, Spring Snow, pastel, 22″ x 18″

Comments from exhibition juror, Carey L. Vose: “The vitality and energy of this pastel kept bringing me back to it, with the vigorous brushwork and dabs of salmon in the background creating a dynamic composition.”

Third Prize: Leslie Baker, CM, Falling Out of Grey I, oil on canvas on cradled birch panel, 32″ x 40″
