Co|So is proud to present Sandra Samaha’s Meditations in Paper, on view in the Upper Gallery from April 23 to May 23. Through multimedia collages, Samaha explores how layered images can represent the past, present and future; asking what is, what was, and what could be.

After studying printmaking at Skidmore College and the University of New Hampshire, Samaha began selling her serigraphs and etchings through the New Hampshire Art Association and local galleries. Frustrated with the limitations of her printing press and inspired by her love of quilts and woven textiles, Samaha eventually discovered collage as a more natural medium for conveying her artistic vision.

Samaha sees the process of collage as empowering her to better understand her faith and beliefs about the moral and ethical issues of our time. For twenty-five years Sandra taught art and art history at the high school level, often telling her students that “art is a reflection of the time period in which it was produced.” In Samaha’s words, “My collages, like the truth we seek, require careful observation, investigation and contemplation to discern.”
