“Landscape is the foundation of my inspiration. I often work as much from a memory or an impression than from a particular place. My compositions are the framework on which I hang a sequence of layered colors in rhythmic patterns to create a mood and a harmonious image. Using reduction printing techniques and sometimes multiple blocks allows me a level of complexity which suits my drive to create artworks which evoke my imaginings, my experiences and my creations.
As an artist who studies nature I am attracted by the sense that there is a guiding hand. I seek the fruition of my guiding hand where the hand itself has become invisible. I attempt to make the flow and harmony of my artworks appear as if there were no other possibility than the balance they possess.” – William H. Hays
Note: As the work displayed in Carving Clouds are parts of an edition, additional prints may be purchased from inventory EVEN IF THEY ARE MARKED AS SOLD. Please ask Co|So staff if interested.
