Robin Colodzin: Embodied

Past Exhibition

Upper Gallery August 22 - September 30, 2023

The Copley Society of Art is proud to present Embodied, a solo exhibition featuring the work of Co|So Artist Member Robin Colodzin. The paintings in Embodied explore the vulnerability and universality of inhabiting a human body in our social world.

This exhibition opens with a reception on Friday, September 8th from 4 PM – 6 PM at the Co|So Gallery, located at 158 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116, and continues through September 30th, 2023.

“In a world of speedy conclusions and conflicting certainties, art makes space for the unresolved, for uncertainty and not-knowing. From that space, a tenderness and openness can emerge.

Our bodies are exquisitely imperfect conduits to pleasure, pain and connection. Our breath tells us that we are alive, even as our limitations remind us of our mortality. Collectively, we as human beings all share the singular experience of living in this human vessel, the body.

Yet our bodies are also that which can lead us to feel separate, different. Appearances are used to construct and justify social inequalities. Comparison to others can be a source of personal insecurity. By what standards do we measure our appearance? When we see others, do we relate to the underlying sameness of the human experience or the differences of our socially constructed one? What risks do we take and do we avoid as we ask these questions?

Vulnerability can be a super power. It opens the door to creativity, to authenticity, and when coupled with a willingness to sit with the discomfort, the possibility for deeper connectedness.” -Robin Colodzin
