I was walking in an urban wild and saw an amazing pattern on some trees that had been cut down. I realized this pattern was the carved out homes of bark beetles. I was in love with the pattern, so I came back the next day with paper and walnut stain and spent a long time exploring the patterns, identifying the beetles (Elm Bark beetles) and trees (Elms). This piece is collaborative art with the forest!
