Cariño a mi Patria (Love to my motherland)
I was born and raised in Nicaragua. Since moving to the United States, I’ve searched for ways to remain connected to the culture I grew up with and love. I hear the sounds of the marimba playing in the streets, the wind created by the movement of the skirts, and the stillness and love of the people watching the dancers in this drawing. Culture and art are things that have brought me and others feel pride in where I am from in my perspective. So this is a love letter to my country that I carry with me from far away.
