There wasn’t enough hay in the barn…If she didn’t feed the chickens without eggs to sell how could she get things she had to have to keep the life of the farm going? Starve, eh? Well, things had to be fed. Men had to be fed and the poor horses that weren’t any good but could maybe be traded off, and the poor thin cow that hadn’t given any milk for three months. Horses, cows, pigs, dogs, men.”
Long after I’d read that story it lingered. Eventually, it became clear to me in this dream. I had no idea my simple gift would still be causing such pain and confusion.”
