Face Off

$6,000.00

“New Hampshire rock faces
White man versus Indian
Both grace mountains.
Rocks fell in 2003
The Old Man of the Mountain
Gone! Shock waves rippled…
God-like, omniscient
Until his face fell off and
Our blind faith was lost.
Pilgrims needed faith

To survive in the New World,
A hostile environment.
The Native people
Offered sustenance and peace
To the immigrants.
The Pilgrims did not
Reciprocate their kindness.
Native people scorned.
White man’s greed invaded.
Stonewall fences, like mazes,
Offered ownership. Mine.
But Indian Head
Stands wreathed in firs, a head dress,
Still a sign of strength.
The strength to survive
Without destruction or greed.
Take only what’s needed.”
