Farewell From Cobh

The pier at Cobh, just outside of Cork, is the place where all the Irish emigrants left for America during the Great Famine in the 1870″s.

I tried to capture the feelings of sadness and remorse that those staying behind must have felt when family members sailed away.

Cobh is also the last landfall made by the Titanic.
