“Reflections from Above” is from a personal experience while photographing from the air during a beautiful summer sunset. From this unique perspective, the setting sun off the waters and earth below was both mesmerizing and spiritual for me. As I watched from this liminal space, the colors and reflections of light in the cloudscapes were everchanging from one amazing sight after another, creating this ethereal atmosphere I wanted to remember forever. I chose an impressionist approach to capture these fleeting moments using expressive brushwork and swaths of colors for the dramatic darks of the earth and fiery golden hues for the sun to convey the magic I was grateful to experience.
