This work is the hero tile of a seamless, repeat pattern, featuring the vibrant fish species native to the Florida Keys. The fish are reimagined in warm, tropical hues, and although the fish appear to be reflected and repeated across the piece, each fish was drawn and painted individually with gouache and colored pencil. Each fish has subtle variations in color, texture, and technique. The repetition and reflection throughout the canvas create a dynamic interplay of forms and colors, reminiscent of the way light dances in underwater reflections.

The process of creating patterns is both introspective and meditative. Each icon recreated again and again with slight variations in color and technique. This immersion in repetitive colors, methods, and forms allows for a dual reflection: on the process itself and on the beauty of the natural world.
