Stubborn is as Stubborn Does

Anna Hyatt Huntington is one of my all time favorite sculptors next to Daniel Chester French. Huntington was one of the most prominent animal sculptors of the early twentieth century, celebrated for her keen powers of observation. I love they way she captured the movement and personality of her subjects, and I have tried to capture that with this piece “Stubborn is as Stubborn Does”. Ralph, the donkey I have depicted here, was a particularly ornery fellow and was not happy to be tied up. I hope that, in the spirit of Huntington, I have captured his stubborn disposition!
