In my work, I express that when we recall the experience of how the human body feels in nature, in all of its delights or turbulence, we have a chance to achieve a greater sense of place and – if it is shared – empathy.

I’m particularly inspired by German Romantic painting, Winslow’s Homer’s paintings off the Maine coast, and the luminous sublime paintings of George Inness (such as the many in the MFA’s collection).
