The Fall Lineup

By admin on September 7, 2016

After a week-long closure for installations prior to Labor Day, Co|So is ready to jump in to our exciting slate of fall exhibitions and events. This Saturday, September 10th, is the opening reception of two new exhibitions: La Cubana y el Cubano in the Upper Gallery and Beyond the Shore in the Lower Gallery.

Curated by Camilo Alvarez of Samsøñ Projects, La Cubana y el Cubano promises to be a thought-provoking show, featuring artwork of Cuban and Cuban-American artists. Co|So is proud to be working with Alvarez, and to introduce our members, patrons and visitors to new cultures and style. This impressive show will culminate with an ArtWeek Boston event in the gallery on October 6th, featuring Spirio, Steinway & Sons’ newest player piano, and pianist Jason Yeager.

The list of events continues off-site with an opening at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on October 1st in South Yarmouth, MA. Juried by Paula Daher of Daher Interior Design, this exhibition will feature 33 artist members and will make a trip out to the cape in October well worth it to see what is on display. Additionally, the gorgeous pastels of Jeanne Rosier Smith can be viewed at the Boston Private branch in the Prudential Center through October. Following Smith, the iconic and familiar oil paintings by Marieluise Hutchinson will be on view in November and December. Hutchinson’s paintings were selected to be featured on the Boston Children’s Hospital holiday card this season.

Coming up in October back in the gallery, Copley Artists Jim Connelly and Robin Samiljan will have solo shows in the Upper Gallery and Red Room respectively. Urban Vision will feature a collection of Connelly’s gritty urban imagery of Boston’s everyday scenery. Through his attention to detail, it might make you reconsider your idea of popular Boston icons. Miniature Moments in the Red Room will contain a number of Samiljan’s small works including urban Chicago scenes as well as natural landscapes. These exhibitions will open on October 13th with a festive reception.

Throughout the fall, we will be kick starting our Artist Exchange and Young Collectors groups at Co|So. Artist Exchanges are open to artist members, and our first event will be a film screening of Unfinished Spaces, a documentary about Cuba’s National Art Schools, on September 14th. Any young professionals interested in joining our Young Collectors should contact the gallery to learn more. The group’s first event of the fall will be a Trunk Show on October 11th. It will be a great way to meet and greet young professionals in a cool gallery setting.

We hope to see you in the gallery soon for our wonderful and varied exhibitions and events throughout the fall season!
