Allen Wang
I am a Chinese-born visual artist based in Boston, currently pursuing my MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, where I also received my BFA. I grew up on the Loess Plateau in Northwestern China before moving to Shanghai and later to New England. Working primarily across charcoal drawing and painting, my practice explores landscape, memory, erosion, and my relationship to the places I have lived and traveled through. Much of my recent work draws from the Yellow River and Loess Plateau, alongside landscapes I have documented across New England and the Pacific Northwest. Through scale, material, and repeated mark-making, I consider how land can hold memory, pressure, loss, and endurance.
