Belinda Zhang

Belinda Zhang was born in 2004 in Singapore and spent her childhood growing up in Hong Kong. She is pursuing a BFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Zhang delves into concepts of mortality, existentialism, and the emotional contradictions inherent to the human condition. Drawing upon diverse cultural perspectives and death customs, informed by personal experiences and academic research, her art deeply engages with the uncertainties of life and death, as well as humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

Zhang is known for her illustrative oil paintings featuring the female figure and nature, often incorporating Morse code within its ornamentation. Through emotionally charged imagery, she explores the tension between internal experience and external expectation, inviting viewers into a space of reflection, discomfort, and connection.
