Christina Eckerson

I grew up in Camden, Maine where the “Mountains Meet the Sea.” I found my passion for painting at an early age drawn to the beauty of Penobscot Bay. I studied with local artists throughout childhood, sketching the boats in the harbor and lots of pine trees. After graduating from Connecticut College, where I studied graphic design, I was production manager of art and photography books at Bulfinch Press, an imprint of Little,Brown and Company. This experience honed my artistic eye and sensibilities. The last 25 yrs have been devoted to painting.

“Painting feels like breathing to me. I strive to create a visual statement, unique to my own voice, that invokes an emotional connection with the viewer. I am inspired by the natural landscape and the infinite expressions that come from the seasons, the time of day, and my personal interpretation of the moment. My work is a quest to express atmosphere, contrast and colors in a cohesive expressive statement. It is through painting I feel I have the language to convey my personal vision and capture the beauty that surrounds us. Creating art is what makes every day worthwhile to me.”
