Daniel William Zampino
I have been working in the stone slate medium for over forty years, and have created well over one hundred sculptures. The work is time-intensive. Subjects vary, from love to death, to social justice, to religion, literature and mythology, song and dance. Much of my work has been inspired by travel, travels to countries across the five continents, stirring inspiration from love to musicianship; from war and sorrow to political repression; and of course, to a celebration of social and political and religious visionaries. Juried into the Marblehead Arts Association, the Rockport (MA) Arts Association, the New England Sculptures Association, and more recently, the Copley Society, I have organized three solo shows in Marblehead MA, as well as one in Rockport MA, each at their respective arts associations. My works have earned numerous awards – including the Julia Marino award for sculpture, and the Richard Recchia award for sculpture, each at the Rockport Arts Association more than once; and the Martha Moore and Lewis A Burnet Memorial Award for Sculpture and Painting. I was awarded the Judges’ Choice in 2024 for three-dimension work at the Marblehead Arts Association. Prior to covid, I received Best of Show in Sculpture at the Marblehead Festival of Arts four consecutive years. Until recently I sat on the Board of Governors at the Rockport Arts Association, serving for three-years, the last two as secretary. I have degrees in history, religion and literature, and law. As a lawyer, I’ve worked a general practice that has included mental health representation (guardianships, commitments), divorce, criminal law, investigations, real property and real estate
