Deborah Perugi

PERUGI ART BIO
Deborah Perugi is from an artistic family whose grandfather, Araldo Perugi, was a marble sculptor from Carrara, Italy.

 Deb received a BFA/printmaking from Penn State University in 1973 and worked as a graphics illustrator and designer for The Boston Globe. During this time, she co-founded a yearly art exhibition at the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Deb has exhibited her abstract and non-representational work in numerous shows in the Boston area. She is an active member of Boston’s Galatea Fine Art, The Copley Society of Art and is a board member and registrar for Newton Open Studios.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Deb teachers and practices painting with Cold Wax medium. Cold wax mixed with oil paint is a non-brush method of painting by applying paint with palette knives and squeegees. It is an intuitive process working with multiple applications and removal of paint. Other Mixed media such as sand, pastels and oil paint sticks may be added. Deb hopes that her paintings will create a feeling of place, peace and wonder.
