Elaine Gardner

I was born and grew up in Barnstable Village, Ma. and attended Swain School of Design in New Bedford. After a postgraduate year at Swain, I spent a period of independent study in Italy. Here I discovered Caravaggio and his dramatic compositions and lighting. Years later, a tutorial with still-life painter Ann Hartley of Eastham gave me the tools and inspiration needed to return to oil painting. I live with my husband Bart Guiney in Yarmouth Port.
