Karen Israel

There is an eclectic mix of subjects and approaches to the body of my work. A dynamic design and use of bold color and narrative are the threads that run through my creations. I am most inspired when painting from life but also enjoy using my photo references for inspiration. Painting provides me with a visual grammar to record the world and my reactions to it.

Recently, I have earned the designation of Signature Member with the American Artists Professional League. Additionally,I am an Elected Member of the Salmagundi Club, and Master Pastelist with both the Pastel Society of America and the International Association of Pastel Societies and I currently serve on the boards of the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Connecticut Pastel Society and the American Artists Professional League.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to devote myself full time to painting and teaching.
