Kelley Hails

Kelley is an artist, a poet, and a physician who paints light-filled portraits and landscapes in oils, imbuing a realist style with a compassionate psychological portrayal of the subject. She developed an early interest in drawing as a child, rendering realistic portraits and landscapes in graphite and pen and ink. Kelley then entered an art hiatus for a career in emergency medicine- an experience of learning a deep understanding of humanity which profoundly influences her portraiture- before returning to her first love, fine art. Kelley studied painting intensively for five years at a small art teaching studio in Maine with master painter Sean Beavers, and furthered her training with Stephen Bauman, Cornelia Hernes, and in workshops with Robert Liberace and Don Demers.

Kelley is a member of the Portrait Society of America, a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and the Newburyport Art Association, and a member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. She has received multiple awards and shown her works in a number of juried regional and national exhibits. Her works have been on display at galleries and in private collections.
