Linda Merk

Linda's approach to painting landscapes follows in the tradition of 19th century painters who sought to reveal nature through unity of design and harmony of light. She has been awarded juried artist membership at Silvermine Art Guild, Copley Society and Providence Art Club.

Her paintings seek to capture the moment when one steps from the objective into the subjective. She applies multiple layers of transparent colors on quadruple primed Belgian linen which results in the light emanating from the canvas. Linda's paintings are in The United Nations Permanent Art Collection, Block Museum of Art and private collections in New England, New York and Florida.

Linda's profession as an art conservator lends a deep understanding of materials and nuanced surfaces. She is a Fellow of IIC and has received awards for preserving The Statue of Liberty, The Freedom Statue atop the US Capitol Building and Henry Moore sculptures on exhibit throughout the US and Europe.
