Mark Lore

Contemporary Expressionist Landscapes

Mark’s career as a professional artist and fine arts educator has been the primary focus of his life for almost 45 years.
As an award-winning contemporary landscape painter, he chooses locations that become encounters with the land, the trees, the water and the atmosphere, which has always given him a sense of connection and order. When a location intrigues and inspires him, he will paint the scene into a series of themes, experimenting and searching to learn more about the natural threads that tie the landscape together with complexity, subtlety and more importantly, balance. He is always searching for new ways to express spatial relationships and perspectives with textured layers of paint, brushwork, gradations, and diffusions of light.
His oil and acrylic works currently depict seasonal New England scenes with a bold, tactile expressionist color palette and a variety of tools and techniques, which blur and blend the lines between abstraction and realism.
Mark's work has been recognized locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, with multiple awards in excellence and merit. He is currently represented by The Boulder Gallery in Fitchburg, MA as a featured artist, and is an Associate Member Artist of the Copley Society of Art in Boston, MA.
Mark also has works published in Studio Visit Magazine V.50, which is a juried selection of international artists, published by The Open Studio Press, and as a featured artist in Spotlight Contemporary Art Magazine V.30., published by The Circle Foundation for the Arts in Lyons, France.
He continues his local connections to the area with memberships and annual submissions to Arts Worcester, Newburyport Art Association, GALA, (Gardner Area League of Artists) Greater Gardner Art Association, and the Princeton Arts Society.
He retired as a Fine Arts Educator in 2019 and now works from his studio/gallery at School Street Art Studios, 205 School Street, Studio J in Gardner, MA 01440.
