Mena Levit
A classical opera singer & voice teacher by trade, I have always been interested in art, but never formally trained in it. A few years ago I had the opportunity to attend a pastel demonstration by Robin Frisella. I immediately fell in love with the style and vibrant nature of the medium, and began watching online beginner videos and attending various demos/classes/workshops taught by talented, accomplished pastel artists – Cindy Crimmin, Jeanne Rosier Smith, Maryann Mullett, Joelle Feldman, Lana Ballot. This improved my work dramatically and brought it to a completely different level.
Since 2022 my work has been accepted into multitude of prestigious, highly competitive pastel exhibitions through the country. My paintings have recently been juried into National/International Shows including the 75th Annual Show of Traditional Realism, National Show of Rockport Art Association, as well as National juried shows hosted by Pastel Societies of Connecticut, Southern California, Southeastern, Southern Carolina, Great Lakes, Oregon, Maine, Taiwan, Iowa, Southwest Florida, Central Mass, Alaska, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, International Association of Pastel Societies and more.
I’ve had 35 of my paintings displayed in solo shows at the Needham, Wellesley, and Newton libraries, and received great reviews from local social media. My work has been featured in the Annual Best 100 Pastel Magazine, and won the Honorable Mention award. I’ve also won numerous awards at the North Shore Art Association, Pastel Societies of New Hampshire/Cape Cod/Connecticut Member Shows. My paintings won the second/third pastel place awards at the National Shows of the Art Center of Cape Cod, and New Hampshire/Cape Cod Pastel Societies.
I’m a Juried Associate Member of Pastel Society of America, Juried Signature Member of 4 Pastel Societies - Cape Cod, Central Mass, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. I’m also a Juried Exhibiting Member of Wellesley Society of Arts/North Shore Art Association.
My work has been represented by professional Art Galleries in Rockport, Gloucester, Lexington MA, and Portsmouth, NH.
