A Sneak Peak into Fresh Paint

By admin on April 19, 2018

Fresh Paint Day is just around the corner! On April 22nd, our artist members will paint en plein air in Boston, and bring their freshly-painted works back to the gallery for the Fresh Paint exhibition and auction! If you’re itching to see some of the artwork, here’s a sneak peak of what you’ll see at the gallery for our 30th Annual Fresh Paint!

Shelly Eager, “Trains and Trucks and Excavators, Oh My!”, pastel, 18 x 24″

Pastel painter Shelly Eager painted an industrial scene of Boston for her piece “Trains and Trucks and Excavators, Oh My!” To make this cohesive composition, Eager emphasized the long, rectangular shapes seen in the highway ramps, the Red Line subway, and a semi-truck.

Kristin Stashenko, “Back Bay,” acrylic on panel, 30 x 30″

Plenty of architecture will be featured in this year’s Fresh Paint! For her piece, Kristin Stashenko painted the old buildings in Back Bay, adding a modern feel with her color palette of pink, purple, blue, and green.

Susan McLean, “Morning Coffee on Paint Day,” oil on board, 8 x 10″

The paintings in Fresh Paint include more than outdoor scenes! Susan McLean painted this still life of coffee mugs and added the charming detail of a woman’s lipstick on the rim of a cup.

Nick Read – “Radcliffe Yard” – oil on board – 24 x 8

Boston is home to many colleges and universities with beautiful architecture. For his Fresh Paint piece, Nick Read chose to paint the esteemed Harvard University, while highlighting the beautiful hue of the red brick buildings.

Wendy Hale, “Spring at the Arboretum,” watercolor, 16 x 20″

Watercolors make an appearance in this year’s Fresh Paint, too! Watercolorist Wendy Hale expertly painted beautiful pink blooms found in the Arnold Arboretum!

Caroline Rufo, “Nurture,” mixed media on canvas, 18 x 18″

You can also find abstract art in our upcoming exhibition, including Caroline Rufo’s mixed media piece “Nurture!”

Join us on Fresh Paint Day, April 22nd, and watch our artists paint en plein air! Then see the exhibition at our gallery and bid on your favorite piece at our 20th Annual Fresh Paint Gala on May 3rd!
