Face Off depicts two rock formations: The Old Man of the Mountain and Indian Head, both in NH. In 2003 the Old Man’s face fell off however the Indian head remains intact. The incredible abundance of natural resources in the New World appealed to the European Settler’s inherent greed and their desire to own land. The Native Americans did not know greed nor did they believe in ownership. The Indian Head stone face remains and the Old Man of the Mountain has fallen away; I see that as a metaphor.
