Juried National Show: Intersections

Upcoming Exhibition

Upper Gallery July 9 - August 8, 2026

Intersections explores the dynamic spaces where paths cross and ideas converge. Viewing the crossroads as both literal and metaphorical, contrasts naturally coexist: movement and stillness, structure and fluidity, tradition and innovation. We invite artists to reflect on the tensions that emerge when forces – social, cultural, and political – collide and reshape one another.

Artists are encouraged to interpret this theme expansively. Intersections may appear in urban grids and rural crossings, overlapping identities, or the meeting of cultures, disciplines, and materials. Works might explore transitional states, shared territories, liminal spaces, or moments of decision and change – points where histories, policies, and personal narratives meet.

In a world shaped by connection and division, intersections define how we move, come together, and transform. This exhibition seeks artworks that magnify spaces where differences encounter one another—where dialogue, resistance, and possibility coexist—and where something new may emerge.

“The curatorial process posed a welcome challenge as I reviewed myriad takes on the Intersections theme—dynamic, innovative, and canny. I endeavored to represent a full range of media and conceptual interpretations, including an energetic painting depicting a dense thicket of intertwined branches, a sly nocturnal fox crossing a desolate roadway, thoughtful portrayals of political dissonance, a large woven sculpture with a precarious cant, and a photograph of an extraterrestrial investigating our landscape. My aim was to create a snapshot illustrating the intersection of connectivity and discord that defines this particular moment in time.”
